Drive:
The drive shall only be through the road wheel or wheels.
Brakes:
Must be equipped with one efficient brake operating on each wheel, and operated independently, on at least two of the road wheels, each giving complete control.
Size of tyres:
There is no restriction on the size and type of tyres used. Except that the cross section must be no less than 50mm.
Clutch and brake levers:
Levers must be ball ended with a diameter of not less than 19mm

Superchargers:
The use of superchargers is permitted on machines up to 2000cc.
Handlebars:
The minimum angle of rotation of the handlebars, each side of the centre line or mid-position must be 20 degrees. Whatever the position of the handlebars, it must not be possible for the front wheel to make contact with any streamlining. It is compulsory to fit stops or another devise to ensure a minimum clearance of 30mm between the handlebars and the tank when on full lock to prevent the trapping of rider fingers.
Footrests:
The footrests for the rider must be positioned to give easy access to any control pedal. The ends of the footrests must be rounded with a radius of not less than 8mm.
Streamlining:
Unless otherwise stated in the supplementary regs, there is no restriction on streamlining other than a 50mm clearance between the streamlining and the extremities of the handlebars. Should the streamlining totally enclose the driver a fire wall must be fitted between the engine and the rider; in addition a substantial roll bar must be securely fitted.
Specification of a motorcycle:
All machines must comply with the following:-
A positive ignition cut out switch must be fitted with easy accessible on and off controls on the handlebars so it can be operated by the rider or marshal in an emergency.
All fuel lines must be fitted with an easily accessible on/off control taps

A chain guard of sufficient strength must be fitted to protect the rider and/or passenger in the event of clutch parts breaking up.
All frames must be self supporting and stable in the event of one or more of the engines disintegrating.
The front steering assembly must have a suitable steering geometry – for sprint type machines and all machines of 1300cc or above, this will require a minimum fork trail of at least 100mm. The steering assembly must be sufficiently strong enough to obviate any likelihood of collapse during acceleration or under braking conditions. Flimsy forks or frames are not permitted.
Specification of Sidecars:
All machines in the sidecar/cyclecar group shall also conform to the following:-
The three road wheels can be disposed to give either two or three tracks.
One of the wheels may be replaced with two wheels provided the distance between the centre line of these two wheels does not exceed 200mm. Measurement will be taken from the tyre centres.
The wheel track or lateral distance between the tracks shall be at least 800mm.
The position of the engine is optional. The engine may drive one or more road wheel.
A passenger or ballast must be carried as well as the rider. If the passenger is replaced with ballast this must weigh not less than 132lb and must be securely fixed. Where a passenger is carried, the passenger must be completely protected from the road wheels and drive, (both primary and final), either by a mudguard or some other means.
Final examination:
Every motorcycle finishing an event must, if required, be submitted for final examination, and any motorcycle may be retained by the promoters for such period as may be necessary for its examination.

A rider must start within one minute of receiving the starting signal. Any rider failing to start within this period may be excluded. A rider shall be deemed to have started upon actuating the timing equipment. In the events where two or more riders are started together, the width between each rider shall not be less than 20 feet.
Medical Cover:
At each sprint meeting, there must be a minimum of one doctor or paramedic and one ambulance present. If either the doctor or paramedic has to leave the circuit, all racing must stop. All paramedics must have personal malpractice indemnity cover.
Control of Exhaust Noise The clerk of the course may disqualify any machine/rider which in his opinion is excessively noisy.

The organisers suggest that all racers should consider their own and others safety. You are required to carry a fire extinguisher in your car/van. Spot checks will take place! (If you ride your machine to the event you are exempt from this rule). Fuel should be kept in your car/van and away from fire hazard. When refuelling, ensure it is safe to do so; give particular thought to open to public events. Do not ride in the paddock area. In the event of a tie, a championship will be awarded on the number of individual class records broken, and finally by the largest margin which a class record has been improved. - Race Numbers:
Please ensure your race numbers are clearly visible from the rear and both sides of your machine. Numbers can be on any appropriate colour background and we advise that they should be 5 – 6 inches tall.
No times will be issued if the timekeeper is unable to see your race numbers clearly.
All ’84 and later bikes must have and M prefix on their number. - Noise:
We are trying to keep noise down to a minimum. All road legal machines should have a road legal exhaust system and end can. All 2-stroke road and race machines should be fitted with a stinger end can. To race you must be able to comply with the following. Non competition class machine must not be any louder than 105db, all competition bikes, including sidecars, must not be any louder than 112 db. Class 18 may only run at Honington where each bike may make no more than 3 passes un-silenced, broken teams may trade runs. We will check ALL machines (except class 18) for noise and anyone who fails this test may be prevented from racing. In any case we request that anyone with 4 stroke race machinery to please consider ways to quieten your machines. (Point exhaust at the floor, small end can etc) If you only run your machine a few times in a day this is less of a problem as it obviously contributes less to the overall noise of the event. Please also consider engine noise whilst queuing. Noise restrictions at all events are inevitable. - Alcohol and non prescription drugs:
When you race you must be alcohol and drug free. We will be performing random breath tests throughout the season. Failure to pass or comply with a breath test request will result in an instant ban from the meeting. Spectators and crew should be similarly drug and alcohol free and the consumption of either is not permitted at race meetings. - No starting of engines until after the rider briefing
Class 18. Fuel bikes of historic interest
